Prof. Zhihua Yang works at Harbin Institute of Technology as the deputy director of the Institute for Advanced Ceramics and the Key Laboratory of Advanced Structural-Functional Integration Materials & Green Manufacturing Technology. He got his Ph.D. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2008. His research focuses on the basic science research of the structure-function integrated ceramics and their additive manufacturing technologies and the damage behavior and mechanisms of advanced ceramic materials and components under extreme service conditions. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed journal papers, 50 granted patents, and one book.
Prof. Zhou Yu, born in 1955, is a renowned scientist in the field of ceramics and a specialist in advanced ceramic materials engineering and higher education management. He was admitted to Harbin Institute of Technology in 1977, majoring in metallic materials and heat treatment, and later successively obtained a bachelor's and master's degree in engineering. Upon his successful completion of his graduate study, he was admitted to a joint doctoral program hosted by the University of Tokyo in collaboration with Chinese institutions of higher education and received a doctorate in engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology in 1989. He has mainly engaged himself in studies on phase transformation and toughening in ceramics and ceramic matrix composites for multi-functional thermal protective components of spacecraft. His original work has resulted in the invention of new ceramic matrix composites that have been successfully applied in various high-temperature applications.
