Biographical note

David Atherton is a food-writer, podcaster and winner of The Great British Bake Off, 2019. David's love of cooking was inspired by his mother’s freshly baked bread and cakes every week. His passion for food led to a career in healthcare as an international health advisor, spending time in UK Aid-funded hospitals overseas. David’s mother’s home cooking, inspiration from his travels and his knowledge in nutrition and healthcare inspire his recipes today. David’s beloved series of cook books for children includes My First Cook Book (2020), My First Green Cook Book (2021) My First Baking Book (2022) and My First Christmas Cook Book (2023). Katie Cottle is an illustrator and picture-book-maker who enjoys telling stories through drawing and a variety of media, including a mix of traditional and digital techniques. Katie loves using bright colours and drawing grumpy faces. In 2021, Katie was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.
