There are times when only a polar bear will do . . . "All I want is a normal family but no, I've ended up with the brother from Weirdsville. Liam is so embarrassing, but Mum and Dad can't see that and give him all the attention. Leaving me with zero! Zilch! A big fat NOTHING! And I'm not really sure how an enormous, funny, clumsy polar bear is going to help with all this, but he was standing on the doorstep, so I had to invite him to stay, didn't I? Well, what would you have done?" Meet Arthur and his brand new friend, Mister P - the world's most helpful(ish) polar bear! Packed with gorgeous illustrations throughout, this story has heart and humour in equal measure and is sure to be a hit with developing readers and as a great book to be read aloud.

When Mister P stumbles through Arthur's front door an interesting and fun new friendship is born. Arthur could do with someone to talk to and Mister P is a good listener - as well as being amazing at football, scared of spiders, extremely messy at eating, and the best at hugs when you need them! There are times when only a polar bear will do . .

Warm and loving relationship between the boy and Mister P, but with lots of humour. Mister P is a larger-than-life character that readers will fall in love with. Appealing package with gorgeous illustrations throughout. Satisfying read for developing readers but also great for parents to read aloud. The narrative has a lovely rhythm and, unlike a lot of other books for this age, is fresh and funny with a boy protagonist. Shortlisted for; Book Factor, Surrey Librarie's Children's Book Award, Leeds Book Award, FCBG Pick of the Year, UKLA Children's Book Award, North Somerset Book Award

Maria Farrer lives in the Somerset countryside with her husband and Chiecco the dog. Before this she lived on a small farm in New Zealand with a flock of sheep, a herd of cows, two badly-behaved pigs, and a budgie that sat on her head while she wrote. Maria trained as a speech therapist and teacher and worked in hospitals and schools. She later completed an MA in Writing for Young People and has subsequently had two books published in the UK. She likes to ride her bike to the top of steep hills so she can hurtle back down again. She also loves mountains, snow, and adventure and dreams of going to the Arctic to see polar bears in the wild. Dave Gray studied as a graphic designer and won a BBC/BAFTA award for design before going on to produce commercial work for clients including the BBC, Channel 4, CITV, Oxford University, and The Prince's Trust. He spent a large part of his early career developing and delivering entertaining/educational media projects with hard to reach young people before setting up as a freelancer. After winning the Society of Children's Books Writers and Illustrators' Undiscovered Voices competition in 2014 for children's illustration, Dave decided to focus on writing and illustrating children's books.
