Howard thinks he's the most exceptional creature in the rainforest-that's because no other creature is as exceptionally camouflaged as him! But when he learns that the rainforest is full of other camouflaged creatures, he begins to wonder: 'Who will like me if I'm just . . . an average gecko?' Thankfully Howard meets Dolores (another average gecko) and he discovers that you don't have to be exceptional to be loved-and those that love you will never think you're average at all.

To those that love you, you can never be average.
With so much pressure on children to be special, this story reminds us that you don't have to be 'exceptional' to be loved. An entertaining introduction to camouflaged creatures, which children will be able to spot hidden throughout the book (even if Howard can't!). Expertly written text from Doctor of English Literature and award-winning author of Lubna and Pebble, Wendy Meddour. Howard's personality will capture the hearts of children and adults alike! Carmen Saldana's gorgeous illustrations bring the jungle and all of its many colours to life.
