Biographical note

Shulian Zhang is a professor at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. As an expert of laser technology and laser precision measuring instruments, he is a fellow of the Chinese Instrument Society, a fellow of Optica, and a fellow of the Chinese Optical Society. He was a visiting scholar at Vrije University Brussel, Belgium, the University of Kassel, Germany, a senior visiting scholar at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology, Korea, and a visiting professor at LAAS-CNRS, France. He was the director of the Institute of Optoelectronic Engineering and the director of the State Key Laboratory of Precision Measurement Technology and Instruments, at Tsinghua University, China. As the principal implementer, he has won two second prizes of the National Technical Invention Awards of China, two first prizes of Natural Science and Technology Awards by the Ministry of Education of China, and a first prize of the Innovation Awards of the Electronic Society of China. He was granted the Lifetime Contribution Award at the ISMTII-2017 International Conference and 2021 Instrument and Testing 3i Award.
