Biographical note
Dr. Manish S. Dixit is Associate Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, MIT, Aurangabad. He possesses more than 25 years of experience in the field. He has completed Ph.D. from Government College of Engineering in 2013 on the topic “Experimental evaluation of ultimate bearing capacity and settlement for footings.” He has published 40 research papers in national/ international journal and conferences. He is approved research guide in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad, and B.O.S. member in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere, and Sandip University Nashik. He has conducted 06 STTP of one week and organized various expert lectures and workshops. He has performed soil testing of more than 500 construction sites (PWD, MJP, Private sector, AMC). Received “Best Professor in Engineering” award at 11th DNA Innovative Education Leadership Awards held at TAJ Land End, Mumbai, on 16 February 2019. He is Life Fellow of IGS and ISTE. Currently, he is Secretary of IGS Aurangabad Chapter. He was Organizing Chairman for Ninth Indian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (9IYGEC) organized by IGS Aurangabad Chapter and Civil Engineering Department, MIT, on 21-22 March 2023. He is currently Executive Member of IGS National body and corresponding member of ISSMGE.
Dr. Sumeet S. Jaiswal is Associate Professor in Department of Civil Engineering, MIT, Chh. Sambhajinagar. His experience comprises a wide range of areas which includes the educational sector, transportation sector, economical appraisal, and oil & gas (Coal Seam Gas) sector. He has 9 years of industry experience and 12 years of experience in academic teaching. He has good ability to mix and match research capabilities, engineering skills, and understanding of economic principles to deliver value addition to the processes and strategies of any task. He received his M.Tech. in Transportation Engineering (Civil Engineering) from IIT Roorkee and Ph.D. in Transportation from Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia. With a vision of developing expertise in Transport Economics, he pursued a post graduate degree in economics from University of Queensland and graduated in July 2015. His focus area includes the area of analytical studies and modelling to deliver substantial revenue, productivity, and quality improvements, proficient in gathering, analysis and defining functional requirements, creating metrics, trend charts, and decision-making tools for business.
Dr. Neelima Satyam is Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Indore. She obtained Ph.D. and M.Tech. from IIT Delhi and B.Tech. from SV University, Tirupati. She worked as Assistant professor in Earthquake Engineering Research Centre, IIIT Hyderabad, before joining IIT Indore. She was a visiting researcher at the University of Stuttgart (2018) and the University of Tokyo (2013). She is actively engaged in teaching, research, and consultancy in the field of geotechnical engineering, particularly in geotechnical earthquake engineering, microzonation and site response studies, landslide hazard and monitoring, microseismic data processing, and rock engineering. Dr. Neelima received research grants from DST, MHRD, AICTE, ITRA, DAE, NIOT, NRDMS, ISRO, and MoES. She has published 150+ papers in international/national journals and conferences. Her research publications have received best paper awards from IGS, AGU, and IIT Indore. She is the Co-opted member of PAC Civil and Mechanical Engineering SERB, DST (2015-2018). She has been Chairperson of the selection committee for MEXT Scholarships of Japan since 2015. She is a recipient of IEI Young Engineers Award 2011, BRNS Young Scientist Research Award 2011, AICTE Career award 2012, JSPS fellowship in 2013, Young Woman Engineer award from INWES in 2012, CIDC Vishwakarma award in 2021, ISET Shamsher Prakash Mid-Career Research award 2022, and SERB - POWER Fellowship 2022. She is a fellow of JSPS, IGS, ISET and IEI.
Dr. Awadhesh P. Singh is Director of Explore Engineering Consultants Pvt. Ltd. He is a highly experienced geotechnical professional serving the field for the last 24 years as a consultant. In this span of time, Dr. Singh has been involved in providing consultancy services to more than 4,000 projects, and he holds an impressive success record of solving various geotechnical problems and satisfying a wide variety of client’s geotechnical requirements. Additionally, he carried out part time research work on Behavior of Rock-Socketed Piles under Combined Vertical and Lateral Loading and was awarded Ph.D. from IIT Delhi. He completed his B.Tech. (Civil) from NIT Calicut and M.E. (Geotechnical Engineering) from IIT Roorkee with University medal. Dr. Singh is a life fellow of IGS and life member of ISRMTT, IRC, and ISEG, and member of ISRM. He is also elected Executive Committee member of IGS national body and Honorary Secretary of IGS national body, Member Board of Studies (BOS) of Civil Engineering Dept. of GLA University, Mathura, and nominated member by IGS to BIS for Construction and Related Engineering Services Sectional committee, SSD 06.
Dr. Vidya Bhushan Maji is Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Madras, with more than 17 years of experience in the field of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. His teaching and research interest includes rock mechanics, engineering geology, tunnelling and underground excavations, slope stability, and landslides. He has published more than 90 papers in various reputed international/national journals and conferences. He has successfully completed several research projects and consultancies in the field of rock engineering, laboratory testing, geotechnical investigation, foundation designs, tunnelling, and slope design. He is Life member of the Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) and Chennai chapter of IGS for more than 15 years and presently serves as Secretary of the IGS Chennai chapter. He is also member of International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and a member of the International Society of Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM). He has also served as a member of the technical committee in Hill Roads and tunnels of the Indian Road Congress (IRC).
