Biographical note

PD Dr. med. Ilse Broekaert, MD is a Senior Consultant at the University Hospital Cologne with a clinical and scientific focus on Paediatric Gastroenterology, Metabolic Diseases, Paediatric Pulmonary and Allergology. She is the head of the Clinical Paediatric Nutrition Department at the University Hospital of Cologne.

Dr. med. Francesco Buonfiglio, MD, studied medicine at the Federico II University in Naples, Italy, and is a medical doctor at the University Hospital in Mainz,  Germany at the Department of Ophthalmology, with a research focus on retinal and corneal diseases as well as on ocular physiological processes.

Prof. Dr. med. habil. Adrian Gericke, FEBO, MHBA is the Chief Senior Physician at the University Hospital of Mainz and Head of the Division of Anterior Eye and Refractive Surgery, as well as head of the Division of Ocular Pharmacology and Physiology. His surgical and scientific spectrum covers the entire anterior eye segment, including cornea, cataract and glaucoma surgery.

Prof. Dr. Ken K. Nischal is Chief of the Division of Pediatric Opthalmology and Strabismus at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Director of Pediatric Program Development at the UPMC Eye Center, and Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His main areas of clinical work and research are anterior segment developmental anomalies affecting the cornea, lens and trabecular meshwork. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Pediatric Glaucoma and Cataract Family Association (PGCFA) and has contributed articles and responses to our Ask the Doctor feature. He is the founder and co-director of the World Society of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, an outstanding organization with members from around the globe.

Dr. med. Sarah B. Zwingelberg, MD, studied pharmacy and medicine at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich and is a medical doctor at the University Hospital in Cologne in  Germany at the Department of Ophthalmology with a clinical and scientific focus on corneal and anterior segment diseases as well as corneal tissue regeneration.
