Biographical note

Sairam Bhat is a Professor of Law at NLSIU and provides training and advisory to various Government and Non-governmental entities engaged in Start-up incubation and funding, public tender, RTI, corporate law compliance, etc. He is a recipient of numerous fellowships including the Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship in 2010 at the University of Georgetown, Washington, and the Linnaeus-Palme Academic Exchange Fellow at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm in 2013, and received the ‘Young India Environmental Law Fellowship’ in 2003. His research contributions on various legal aspects include those published with inter alia Sage Publications, Bloomsbury, and Eastern Book House.

The Centre for Environmental Law, Education, Research, and Advocacy (CEERA), established in 1997, is a leading research centre within NLSIU that primarily focuses on research, policy advocacy, and training in environmental law. Over the years, CEERA, through its environmental law database, has undertaken training and capacity-building, and provided consultancy, by effectively networking among all stakeholders towards an environmental law fraternity. CEERA works closely with the UNDP, Ministry of Environment and Forest, National Biodiversity Authority, Ministry of Jal Shakti, ICSSR, and the Department of Justice on various policy research projects.
