Klaus-Uwe Panther's Introduction to Cognitive Pragmatics (ICP) is a welcome addition to the growing field of cognitively oriented pragmatic research. [...] Panther's Introduction to Cognitive Pragmatics is an interesting and useful addition to the literature. He presents a comprehensive analysis of the data using theories from pragmatics, which he views through the lens of cognitive linguistics. In this, ICP is excellent. It could act as a standalone text to be used as the basis for an advanced undergraduate or postgraduate course or as the basis for a methodology for interpreting data. [...] Panther's work may present an important counterpoint to current theories and debates. It may also provide a rich source of worked and analysed examples which may lead to new developments within cognitive pragmatics. In summary, I think researchers interested in the intersection between pragmatics and cognitive science, especially those working within a cognitive linguistic framework, will find something useful or interesting in Panther's book.

It should be clear to the reader that I believe that Panther's book has much to offer cognitive linguists. The book is recommended reading and of vital interest for cognitive linguists in general and pragmaticians with an interest in cognition.
