Biographical note

Alan Tomlinson is Professor of Leisure Studies, Sport and Leisure Cultures at the University of Brighton and Head of Chelsea School Research Centre. He has written more than 100 articles and chapters and was editor of Leisure Studies and of the International Review for the Sociology of Sport. He has edited and authored more than twenty volumes, including Sport and Leisure Cultures (2005), The Game's Up: Essays in the cultural analysis of sport, leisure and popular culture (1999), and Understanding Sport: An introduction to the cultural and sociological analysis of sport (1999).
