Knussen, somewhat cryptically, writes that the piece 'has something to do with St Clare, angels, and canons.' The striking atmosphere - fleeting, hauntingly elusive and almost mystical - makes Frammenti da 'Chiara', his only choral work, ripe for rediscovery.
