Biographical note

Em. O.Univ.Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Bruno Grösel is a renowned expert in the field of stage technology and mechanical engineering. As former head of the mechanical engineering division at Waagner Biro AG, which also included stage technology, crane construction and cable car construction, he made a significant contribution to the development and modernization of these disciplines. In 1986, he was appointed as a university professor at the Vienna University of Technology, where he was also Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering for almost 15 years. Prof. Grösel is also a board member and vice president of the OETHG (Österreichische Theatertechnische Gesellschaft) and works as a lecturer at the Academy of the OETHG. The OETHG also operates as the OISTAT center in Austria. (OISTAT=International Organization of Scenographers, Theatre Architects and Technicians). At Austrian Standards, he was the initiator of the establishment of a standards committee for stage technology for the development of Austrian stage technology standards and was and is actively involved in the development of the new European stage technology standards. The new European standards are not only included in his book, but also in the training content of the OETHG Academy, where he was significantly involved in designing the curricula for many years as the person responsible for the courses.
