"This beautifully told unfolding of John's life - boy to man, intellectual to visceral seer - subtly, delicately reveals the genius of Eugene Halliday, a man for all men and women - literally, music for the senses!" Barbara Pidgeon, author of 'Shakti Manifest'; A finely produced book. It tells the story of the classical guitarist John Zaradin and how he came to study and the approach to his work and his art, all told in a threefold way seamlessly interwoven into a single harmonious tapestry. Harmonious, that is the key. The way the books is woven together reflects the threefold aspect of Zaradin`s music ; how he came to think of himself as a potential serious musician, his meeting with his mentor, Eugene Halliday, who has been a lifelong influence, and last some of the technical and philosophic aspects of music. There are many illustrations, and Hephzibah makes an admirable and unobtrusive observer linking it all together.” Philip Rose, author of ‘The Way: Spirit from the Well’ and ‘Waves of The Sea’ ; “This is a warmly written story of a richly interesting life - I came away with a real sense of the process of creating music from the inside. Fascinating the many kinds of influence that come together to make a unique picture. A book to enjoy with a glass of wine.” Robert Darwin. ; “While I am familiar with some of John Zaradin’s Great Guitar Music and arrangements , I expected to read more about his 'Journey ' within the Music World . After reading a second time, I realized It described his path to Personal Development .” Brian Mcallister

The young John Zaradin felt driven to make his life in music against all 'sensible' career advice offered by his peers and parents. An interest in philosophy led him to a circle of creative people dedicated to self-development. They demonstrated to him that a life in the arts was indeed possible, if he worked with some tried and tested guidelines. These included - in addition to all aspects of music, its performance and the business of survival - a rigorous self-examination and a continual re-focusing on his stated aim. His choice to both listen and act on what he was absorbing helped him to make his first steps on the way to living and shaping his life as a musician. Many years later, a conversation with a friend resulted in the writing of his Personal Journey, in which he reveals the story of how he transformed his own life and developed his career as musician, guitarist and composer.
