Biographical note
Dr Guido Knopp was born in 1948. After taking a degree in history he became editor of the 'Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung' and later foreign editor of the 'Welt am Sonntag'. Today he runs the current affairs department of ZDF, Germany's second national TV network. His books for Sutton include 'Hitler's Women' and 'The SS'.
In this book in a series on Knopp's reassessment of Germany's guilty past, he turns to the careers and the relationship with Hitler of six key military leaders of the Third Reich: Erich von Manstein, Erwin Rommel, Friedrich Paulus, Wilhelm Keitel, Ernst Udet and Wilhelm Canaris.
